We can't really spell out all of the exciting things that have been happening in our corner of Brooklyn right here, but we wanted to say hello and thanks to everyone who has picked up a Limited Edition copy of Seven Summits so far! We're working super hard to make sure next year is fun and exciting for the band. Our album is being mastered, and we're tinkering with artwork and possible touring plans. We've posted a new blog on myspace that you should read, and if you haven't listened to the new tunes we put up... why not!?!? LISTEN!
[10.09.2007] CMJ, BOSTON + NEW PERSONNEL | We're playing CMJ next week! Plus, our new record is close to being mixed and we've decided to celebrate by playing for our friends in Beantown for the first time. Our good friend Dan D'Ippolito will join us on guitar, keyboard and backing vocals at both shows--details: here.

[05.16.2007] POST-PIANOS Our sincerest thanks to all of our friends who come out this past saturday. We had a great time playing with Mancino and The Muggabears, and we'll try not to wait another six months before the next show. There are a few very nice write-ups with some photo galleries out there in webland: visit earfarm, and CMJ.com. Stereoactivenyc will be posting some video from the show shortly!

[05.04.2007] RECORDING, SHOWS, REVIEWS How about an update? We recorded much of what will be our first full-length album last month. It sounds really great thanks to our friends Fraser and Raky. When it's done, we'll let you know.
In the meantime, come see us play our first NYC show in over six months. Expect new sounds, rough spots, works in progress, moments that really shine and possibly a special guest. Maybe we'll even play a song or two that you know. Details!
Also... our debut EP can now be found on iTunes, emusic, Rhapsody, etc. Speaking of the EP, the fine folks at Modern Fix had some nice things to say about it. Read the review here.
[02.13.2007] HELLO, WE ARE ALIVE! Long time, no update... no emails in a while, no shows for a while... here's the explanation:
we've been holed up in our practice space--writing, rehearsing and demoing new material for our first full-length album (!!!!!) which we hope to start recording in march... expect lots of cello, classical guitar, keys, and the secret life of sofia boys choir... also--toward the end of 2006 our mailing list service decided that it was only going to send emails out to half the list, but we're working with something new now and a more complete update will be heading your way soon!

[03.13.2006] Hi there! Welcome to The Secret Life Sofia dot com. Thanks for stopping by! Take off your shoes and stay awhile, and please don't track any mud through our new site. It's so clean, isn't it? Reminds us of a grandmother's Florida room, honestly.
It's been a while so let's catch up. In the past, hmm, let's say "season" we have been busy bees at work. The fall of last year found us making our first recordings with our friends at Bentobox Studios and then handpainting two hundred copies of our EP in and out of university art buildings, parents' garages, and deserted streets in Brooklyn. On a birthday of ours, we invited everyone we knew, and mostly loved, to our EP release show at The Mercury Lounge in New York City. From the bottom of our hearts, we cannot even begin to express how much that night meant to us. It was just wild looking out on such a great crowd of people with an overwhelming sentiment in the room of love and support.
Speaking of support, thanks to a few special people you may have seen us around online. Read all about it! Special thanks to StereoactiveNYC for their very kind article, to The Deli Magazine, Subliminal Inevtiable, and to Ear Farm.
Ever since we have been taking out the old wallets and totes, abacus in hand, and scheming on how to make a really neat design for you and others to enjoy. We are proud to say that we will be pressing one thousand copies of our debut EP shortly, and while a lucky two hundred have one-of-a-kind editions, the remainder of you will still get something you'll be happy to put on your wall.
In other news, we might get to see you out-of-towners this June! We're piling into a van and making our midwest rounds. Chicago, Detroit, Columbus, oh my. The Secret Life of Sofia is coming to a town near you. Check out the shows page for more details as we draw closer to June.
